The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction and WakeMed Health & Hospitals have entered a first-in-the-nation pilot partnership to train potential prison chaplains through the health system's CPE program. .
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction has announced North Carolina is the first state to develop a dashboard to track progress made toward objectives, strategies, and metrics established in its Reentry 2030 Strategic Plan.
The quarterly meeting of the State Reentry Council Collaborative will be held at the N.C. Museum of Art from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

AGENDA

For the first time, medium custody offenders not only participated in a reentry simulation but also served as volunteers providing information at Maury Correctional Institution.
Thanks to a partnership between the N.C. Department of Adult Correction, The Duke Endowment, and the North Carolina and Western North Carolina conferences of the United Methodist Church, four community-funded chaplains will be placed in state prisons across the state.
Partnership between the Division of Rehabilitation and Reentry, Correction Enterprises and the Division of Workforce Solutions within the N.C. Department of Commerce will assist in providing a second chance upon exiting prison.

DURHAM – When Jorgie Brown exits the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) early next month, she will be ready for new beginnings. She has been busy preparing for her release after spending almost four years in prison for a drug trafficking conviction in Carteret County. She says she has worked hard to prepare for her reentry into society and is grateful she will be employed when he leaves the facility.

Governor Josh Stein has declared April as Second Chance Month in North Carolina, a time to focus attention on the challenges facing the thousands returning to their communities each year after completing their sentences in prison and post-release supervision.
