Albemarle Correctional Institution is located on 100 acres of land near Albemarle in Stanly County. Offenders are housed in three units and there is a segregation area with cells for 40 men. Stanly Community College offers GED instruction and courses in computer applications and electronics technology. Some offenders from Albemarle are assigned to work picking up trash and clearing debris, while hundreds of others work inside the prison cleaning dorms, maintaining grounds, and preparing and cooking food.
