Honor Guard

The NCDAC honor guard is comprised of employees who volunteer their time to recognize those who have served the state, our nation and the Department of Adult Correction.

The team provides ceremonial services at funerals and memorial services, provides a color guard at agency meetings and events and serves in other situations as needed.  The Honor Guard also serves the USO when requested at Raleigh Durham International Airport when the bodies of fallen service members are arriving or transferring through the airport.

Honor Guard Selection Criteria

The following criteria are provided to answer common questions and clarify expectations before applying:

  • Must be in good standing with your agency
  • Must have approval from your Chain of Command
  • Ability to attend required training sessions and ceremonies
  • Willingness to participate in callouts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must maintain proper uniform standards at all times
  • Ability to perform prolonged standing, marching, and ceremonial movements
  • Professional conduct and appearance required at all times
  • Prior military or ceremonial experience is preferred but not required
