Loris Sutton is a nearly 30-year veteran with the NC Department of Adult Correction, NC Department of Public Safety and NC Department of Correction. As Deputy Secretary of Internal Affairs and Intelligence Operations, Sutton manages internal affairs and investigations for the department, including oversight of the Office of Special Investigations and the Special Operations & Intelligence Unit.
Since her start in 1993, she has served as a correctional officer, probation/parole officer, program director, chief of security, interim warden, Central Region prisons director, director of operations and several other roles. Most recently she served as interim assistant commissioner of prisons.
Sutton is a graduate of Shaw University in Raleigh, where she received a bachelors in sociology, with a concentration in criminal justice. She is also a graduate of the DPS Correctional Leadership Development Program and the Executive Leadership Development Program.
