Loris Sutton

Deputy Secretary- Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations

Loris Sutton serves as the Deputy Secretary for Internal Investigation/Apprehension and Intelligence Operations for the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, overseeing internal affairs, intelligence investigations, and offender records for the department. The sections include the office of Internal Investigations & Apprehension Division, the Special Operations & Intelligence Unit, and Combined Records.  

Since her start in 1993, she has served as a correctional officer, probation/parole officer, program director, chief of security, interim warden, director of operations, Central Region director and several other roles. Prior to the agency's inception,  she served as the interim assistant commissioner of prisons. 

Sutton is a graduate of Shaw University in Raleigh, where she received a bachelors in sociology, with a concentration in criminal justice. She is also a graduate of the Correctional Leadership Development Program and the Executive Leadership Development Program. She is a member of the American Correctional Association, Southern States Correctional Association and the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice.
