The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice today introduced two clinicians who are assuming key leadership positions in the state prison mental and behavioral health system.

The State Highway Patrol has identified all occupants involved in Thursday’s collision that occurred on Thanksgiving Fire Department Road in Johnston County:

Inmate Dominique Worrell, 26, was found dead at Southern Correctional Institution this afternoon, the subject of an apparent suicide.

UPDATE: Escaped inmate Brandon Brim was captured at about 2 a.m. Monday in Winston Salem by Wake Forest University Police as he was attempting to break into cars.


A new correctional cadet program that leads to a career path with the North Carolina Department of Public  Safety is launching in Bertie County Schools, developed jointly by the school system, community leaders, the Governor’s Office and the Department of Public Safety.

Governor Pat McCrory signed House Bill 371 which will allow designated members of the North Carolina National Guard to carry concealed weapons in public facilities such as recruiting centers and armories.
