Southern Correctional Institution offender Keith B. Parks (#0750585) has died in an apparent suicide.
He was found unresponsive at 8:13 p.m. Sunday. The prison’s first responders performed lifesaving measures, and EMS was called. He was pronounced deceased at 8:51 p.m.
Law enforcement was notified of the death and is investigating, as is common in these circumstances. The Department of Adult Correction is cooperating fully in the investigation and is also conducting its own investigation.
Parks, 38, was convicted of habitual felon charges in Haywood County on Oct. 3, 2022.
