Secretary of Adult Correction Todd Ishee has named Harold Reep as the new warden of Foothills Correctional Institution in Morganton.

Warden Reep most recently served as the compliance manager for the prison system’s western region.

“Warden Reep is an outstanding veteran leader with extensive experience in a number of our prisons spanning almost three decades,” said Ishee. “He knows the business back and forth, and he knows Foothills Correctional from top to bottom.”

In his new position, Reep is responsible for all operations at Foothills Correctional Institution, a facility that houses male minimum and close custody offenders.

Reep began his 27-year career with the Department of Adult Correctional in 1995 at Foothills Correctional as a correctional officer.

He was promoted to various positions there throughout the years, including sergeant, assistant unit manager, lieutenant, and captain. In 2015, he was promoted to warden at the Gaston Correctional Center. He has since held warden positions at Wilkes Correctional Center, Rutherford Correctional Center, and Catawba Correctional Center.

In 2021, Reep was promoted to the Performance and Standards Section as western region compliance manager.
He has attended the Warden’s Peer Interaction Program at Sam Houston State University, as well as enhancing skills for Peak Performance training. He received his advanced criminal justice certification in 2019.

Reep is a graduate of Avery County High School.
