Jackie Murphy promoted to Division Administrator for NCDAC Division 3

Officials with the NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) Division of Community Supervision have promoted Jackie Murphy to division administrator in Judicial Division 3, effective Aug. 28, 2023.

In her new position, Murphy will oversee community supervision operations in the 3rd Judicial Division, which covers 22 counties in the Piedmont and Central portions of the state.

“Jackie brings a wealth of skills and experience to this role as Division 3 administrator,” said Tracy K. Lee, NCDAC deputy secretary of community \supervision.  “Her 28 years of service in community supervision makes her an invaluable member of our team.”   

Murphy began her career as a probation/parole officer I in Mecklenburg County in 1995. During that time, she was promoted to intermediate probation/parole officer ii, intensive probation/parole officer, and chief probation/parole officer where she supervised officers for District and Superior Drug Treatment Court, DWI Treatment Court, Mental Health Court, and Electronic House Arrest.

Since then, she has served as assistant judicial district manager in District 27, was promoted to judicial district manager in District 27 and most recently since 2017, has served as Assistant Judicial Division Administrator in Division 3 where she developed and implemented procedures to oversee field operations for eight respective judicial districts in 22 counties with 690 employees.

Murphy earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from North Carolina Central University and a master’s degree in justice administration from Methodist University.  She is also a graduate of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety’s Correctional Development Leadership Program.
