The May meeting of the NC Joint Reentry Council will take place in Raleigh.

WHAT: The meeting of the Joint Reentry Council, established by Gov. Roy Cooper under Executive Order 303, issued Jan. 29, which directs all State Cabinet agencies to coordinate efforts in improving rehabilitation and reentry of offenders returning to their communities after incarceration.

WHEN: 10 a.m. – Noon, Thursday, May 16

WHERE: Raleigh Police Department Law Enforcement Training Center, 2320 Law Enforcement Drive, Raleigh

WHO: Council members, honored guests, speakers and a chance for public comment


10 a.m. – Introductions: Todd Ishee, Secretary, N.C. Department of Adult Correction.

10:15 — Strategic Planning Update: George Pettigrew, Deputy Secretary, NCDAC Division of Rehabilitation and Reentry; Ziev Dalsheim-Kahane, Policy Advisor, Office of the Governor.

10:30 — Medicaid Expansion Overview: Mary Grillo, Director of Social Work Services, N.C. Department of Adult Correction; Melanie Bush, Deputy Medicaid Director, N.C. Department of Health and Human Services.

11 — Job Skill Training/Vocational Program Overview: Deputy Secretary Pettigrew; Dr. Brooke Wheeler, Superintendent of NCDAC Educational Services; Trish Deal, Deputy Secretary, NCDAC Support Services; John Coleman, Director of NCDAC Correction Enterprises.
