RALEIGH – A $5,000 reward from the State of North Carolina is now offered for information that leads to the capture of Francisco Cardenas, who escaped from Hyde Correctional Center in Swan Quarter on Thursday. The U.S. Marshals Service is now assisting in the investigation and search and has also offered an additional $5,000 reward for information that leads to Cardenas’ capture.

Cardenas, 32, is a male who stands 6 feet one inch tall and weighs about 130 lbs. He has brown eyes and a tattoo of a star on his left hand. He was convicted in Lee County and was serving a 5-to-8-year sentence for drug trafficking, with a release date in 2029.
Cardenas has connections in Sanford and Broadway in Lee County.
