Officials with the NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) have promoted Tim Gasperson to Division Director in Judicial Division 4, effective May 27.
In his new position, Gasperson will oversee Community Supervision operations in the 4th Judicial Division, which covers 25 counties in the western portion of the state.
“Tim is a proven leader with excellent management skills,” said Leslie Cooley Dismukes, secretary for the Department of Adult Correction. “He will be a great leader for this district as we build back stronger in Western NC.”
“With nearly 25 years of service, Tim is more than ready to take the reins in his division,” said Tracy K. Lee, deputy secretary for Community Supervision. “He has continually demonstrated his dedication and value as he’s risen through the ranks.
Gasperson began his correctional career in 2000 as a probation/parole officer in Rockingham County and was promoted to probation/parole officer II in 2002. During that time, he served in Rockingham, Buncombe, and Transylvania counties. He was promoted to district field specialist for District 29 in 2013, covering Henderson, Transylvania, Polk, Rutherford and McDowell counties. In 2014, Gasperson was promoted to chief probation/parole officer where he served in Buncombe and Henderson counties. In that position, he supervised officers assigned to Adult Recovery Court, Sobriety Court, Transitional Housing Program and sex offenders. Most recently, he served as the Assistant Division Director in Division 4, a position he held since 2023.
Gasperson is a graduate of Western Carolina University, as well as the NCDAC Correctional Leadership Development Program.
