Lucketchia Boston has been appointed warden of Bertie Correctional Institution.

Ms. Boston has served as warden of Tyrrell Prison Work Farm since 2023.

"Warden Boston brings almost 25 years of correctional experience to this position," said Leslie Cooley Dismukes, secretary of the NC Department of Adult Correction. "She is an extremely capable leader who will help us move Bertie forward as we work to recruit and retain staff at this critical facility.”

As warden, Ms. Boston is responsible for all operations at Bertie Correctional, which houses more than 800 men in medium and close custody. Rehabilitative, vocational and educational programs available there range from high school equivalency to construction trades.

Ms. Boston began her career at Pasquotank Correctional Institution in 2001 as a correctional officer, advancing to sergeant in 2005 and lieutenant in 2009. She accepted a promotion to captain at Bertie Correctional Institution in 2012, eventually holding positions there as PREA compliance manager and safety officer. In July 2019, she became associate warden at Tyrrell PWF, where she was awarded the state correctional system's 2021 Manager Award for stepping up as acting warden during the pandemic.
