Timothy Maulin is the new warden at Carteret Correctional Center in Newport. Maulin recently served as the associate warden at the same facility. Maulin has provided leadership in a minimum-custody work release and reentry environment, bringing nearly three decades of state corrections service.
Before his current role, he held leadership positions at Craven Correctional Institution. Warden Maulin began his career as a correctional officer in 1997 and advanced to sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and associate warden. In each role, he has demonstrated sound operational judgment, strong policy discipline, staff accountability, and a commitment to maintaining professional standards.
Cristel Vaughan is the new warden at Roanoke River Correctional Institution in Tillery. Most recently, she served as a project manager for NCDAC. She began her career as a correctional officer at Odom CI in 1996 and later transitioned to Roanoke River CI as a case manager. Over the years, she advanced through the program ranks, eventually serving as a program director at Franklin CC and as the associate warden for programs at Franklin CC and Warren CI.
Throughout her career, Vaughan has worked closely with internal and external partners to develop and implement programs for incarcerated individuals while overseeing major projects throughout NCDAC. Her experience includes offender management, staff development, program administration and institutional leadership.
Roanoke River Correctional Institution is the site of Correction Enterprises 5,500 acre farm, which includes a poultry-laying operation and plants corn, wheat and soybeans and a variety of fruits and vegetables. An on-site cannery processes and cans crops grown on the farm and a produce warehouse distributes fresh produce and eggs to prison kitchens across the state.
Curtis Dawson is the new warden at Greene Correctional Institution in Maury. Previously, he served as the associate warden of custody and operations, where he also took on the role of acting warden. In this role, he was responsible for the overall operation of a prison housing more than 650 offenders and employing approximately 200 staff members.
Warden Dawson has more than 15 years of NCDAC service, advancing through the ranks from correctional officer to sergeant, lieutenant, captain and associate warden. Dawson helped lead the Greene CI team to first-time American Correctional Association accreditation in 2023.
