In his new position, Lewis will oversee Community Supervision operations in Buncombe County with 53 probation/parole officers and staff who supervise more than 1,700 individuals sentenced to probation, parole, or post-release supervision.

“James Lewis has an excellent variety of experience, particularly with Treatment Courts, that will be a valuable asset in his district,” said Leslie Cooley Dismukes, secretary for the Department of Adult Correction. “Building and maintaining great teams requires great managers and I know James will continue that track-record.”

“I am very pleased to promote James Lewis to this new position,” said Tracy K. Lee, chief deputy secretary for Community Supervision. “He’s a proven leader who excels at leading his officers in building safer communities.”

Lewis began his community supervision career in 2013 as a Probation/Parole Officer (PPO) in Buncombe County, where he supervised the Adult Drug Treatment Court Program and helped establish the DWI Treatment Court Program.
