Officials with the Division of Community Supervision have promoted Matthew W. Hardin to Assistant Judicial Division Director in Judicial Division 4, effective Oct. 5.

In his new position, Hardin will oversee Community Supervision operations in the 4th Judicial Division, which covers 25 counties in the western portion of the state.

“Matt has excelled at every facet of community supervision during his steady rise up through the ranks,” said Leslie Cooley Dismukes, secretary for the Department of Adult Correction. “He’s done a great job of coaching and mentoring young leaders and building strong teams.”

“I am very pleased to promote Matt to this position,” said Tracy K. Lee, chief deputy secretary for Community Supervision. “His work in District 26 has done a great job to reduce vacancies, balance caseloads, and align field operations. The result is safer communities and reduced recidivism.”

Hardin began his career in Community Supervision in 2006. He has served as a Probation/Parole Officer (PPO) in Rutherford and Cleveland counties, managing high-risk, domestic violence, sex offender, and Security Risk Group (SRG) caseloads, before being promoted to Chief Probation/Parole Officer (CPPO) in that district. He later became Assistant Judicial District Manager (AJDM) in District 27. Most recently, Hardin was the Judicial District Manager (JDM) for District 26 (Mecklenburg County).

Hardin earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Appalachian State University. He has also completed the PEAK Performance program and the NCDAC Correctional Leadership Development Program (CLDP).
