The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Jamie Cobb as the superintendent at Greene Correctional Institution in Maury.
Cobb, 47, has spent more than 25 years with the Department of Public Safety, moving from the Eastern Region Operations Manager position he was named at in 2017.
The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named David Millis as the administrator at Craven Correctional Institution in Vanceboro. Millis moves to the medium custody facility after spending about 1½ years as the superintendent at Hyde Correctional Institution.
The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Benita Witherspoon the new warden of the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women in Raleigh.
Witherspoon, who was previously in charge of Forsyth Correctional Center in Winston-Salem, oversees the multi-custody facility.
The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Harold Reep as the new superintendent at Rutherford Correctional Center in Spindale.
Governor Roy Cooper has declared December 2 – 8, 2018 as Winter Weather Preparedness Week and is encouraging North Carolinians to plan and prepare now before potentially dangerous winter weather arrives.
“Some North Carolina families have already seen their first round of winter weather while others are still recovering from Hurricane Florence, but we want all residents to be prepared for winter weather in the months ahead,” Governor Cooper said. “Take time now to review emergency plans, update emergency supply kits and always stay informed about weather forecasts.”

This is the last of two forums designed to ensure that community voices and ideas are heard and incorporated into the Special Committee’s report. The Special Committee will compile comments and/or questions gathered at the public forums into recommendations that will be provided to the Governor’s Crime Commission in December 2018.

Today, the ReBuild NC program announced that the application center in Bertie County is slated to close on Nov. 29, 2018. However, impacted homeowners in this county may still be eligible for assistance and are strongly encouraged to apply for Hurricane Matthew Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funding through the ReBuild NC program. In order to qualify for assistance through ReBuild NC at this time, the home must have been damaged by Hurricane Matthew in 2016.
