The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Barney Owens as the new superintendent at Pamlico Correctional Institution in Bayboro. Owens, 52, is a 24-year employee with the Department of Public Safety. He has spent the last 18 years at Pamlico CI after a promotion from Craven Correctional Institution to correctional lieutenant in 2000. He was promoted to captain in 2005, and then assistant superintendent of custody and operations in 2015. Owens, a native of New Bern, has an associate degree in criminal justice from Craven Community College.  
The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named William Glick as the new superintendent at Davidson Correctional Center in Lexington, a facility he once worked at as an assistant superintendent.
The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Bruce Hodges the new director of the Robeson Confinement in Response to Violation (CRV) Center in Lumberton. Hodges, 54, had been the assistant director of the Robeson CRV since January 2015. Prior to that, he was in Community Corrections as a chief probation/parole officer, probation/parole officer and general instructor in Wake County.
The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Jeffery Daniels as the new superintendent at Wilkes Correctional Center in North Wilkesboro. Daniels, 45, had been the Western Region Security Coordinator for the 18 facilities assigned to the region office in Valdese since January of 2015. He was responsible for security issues, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) case tracking, and assisting the region director and operations manager.

The driver sought in a hit-and-run collision that occurred in Vance County was located by investigators Monday, October 22, after an intensive search.   
The  ReBuild NC program has now opened a ninth application center in Pender County to provide assistance to Hurricane Matthew survivors in the surrounding area. This additional application center joins eight existing centers located in Bertie, Bladen, Columbus, Cumberland, Edgecombe, Lenoir, Robeson and Wayne counties. See Update Below 8:57 a.m. - At approximately 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, a state trooper stopped a white GMC pickup truck for a speeding violation on US 701 near Sellers Town Rd in Columbus County.  The driver of the pickup pulled over onto the shoulder and the trooper made his initial approach.  The driver of the pickup then fired several shots, striking the trooper.  
State correctional and local law enforcement officers are seeking Hoke Correctional Institution minimum custody inmate Cul P. Jones (#0214939), who was reported missing from the facility Sunday night at about 7:45 p.m.
Governor Roy Cooper announced two more storm related deaths from Tropical Storm Michael were confirmed in McDowell County today. A man and a woman died after their car hit a large tree that had fallen across a road in Marion. That brings the North Carolina death toll from Michael to three. “We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the loved ones and friends of those killed,” Gov. Cooper said. “We urge everyone to remain safe. While the storm has moved on, there is still much clean up and repair to be done.”
