Tammera Hill serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, a role created in January 2025 to serve as the agency’s second-in-command and strengthen operational leadership across the department. In this capacity, she oversees the agency’s day-to-day operations and provides leadership across seven of its divisions ranging from Health Services to Institutions and Community Supervision to Financial Services. With more than 22 years of experience in state government, she has built a career dedicated to public service, leadership, and advancing North Carolina’s public safety mission.
Before joining NCDAC in January 2025, Tammera served as Deputy General Counsel for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and held several leadership roles at the North Carolina Department of Justice, including Assistant Attorney General and Section Head of both the Law Enforcement Liaison and Public Safety Sections. Throughout her career, she has advised law enforcement leaders, managed complex legal and personnel matters, and provided training to officers and command staff across the state.
Tammera is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and UNC School of Law. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, singing (especially in her church choir), participating in theater and commercial acting, and playing tennis and golf. She is also an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
