The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction honored the veterans among its staff with an early Veterans Day celebration Wednesday.Governor Roy Cooper joined NC Secretary of Adult Correction Todd Ishee  and Secretary (and retired US Army Lt. The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) celebrated a significant milestone toward achieving state sustainability goals with a groundbreaking ceremony for a 500 kilowatt solar energy project at Tabor Correctional Institution. The new 500 kilowatt solar array is one of several major energy improvement efforts underway at NCDAC facilities, aimed at achieving goals set forth by Gov. Cooper’s Executive Order 80 and its ambitious Energy Use Index reduction goals.

The solar farm will be the first utility-owned array in North Carolina to serve a public correctional institution.

WHAT: The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) will celebrate a significant milestone toward achieving state sustainability goals with a groundbreaking ceremony for a 500 kW solar energy project on Oct. 30. The new 500 kW solar array at Tabor Correctional Institution is one of several major energy improvement efforts underway at NCDAC correctional facilities aimed at achieving goals set forth by Governor Cooper’s Executive Order 80. 

Randolph is the 39th NCDAC facility either recommended or awarded ACA accreditation.
