With great thanks for the vital public service provided by the state’s probation/parole officers, Governor Roy Cooper has proclaimed July 16-22, 2023, as Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Officers’ Week in North Carolina.

American Correctional Association auditors have recommended accreditation be awarded to the Caldwell Correctional Center, a high achievement and another step toward full accreditation of the North Carolina prison system.

Tyrrell Prison Work Farm offender Michael F. Crumbley (#0094464) has died from injuries sustained as a result of an assault by other offenders on June 9. Crumbley was pronounced deceased today at 1:33 a.m. at an outside medical facility.

Warden Reep most recently served as the compliance manager for the prison system’s western region.

UPDATE: Members of a prison emergency response team captured Stephon J. Easterling at 6:34 p.m., roughly eight hours after he walked off an off-prison job. He was picked up on Leak Street in Rockingham.
