North Carolina search and rescue teams are deployed in several areas across the Carolinas to search for people whose lives are at risk due to dangerous flooding as rainfall totals, normally associated with major hurricanes, plague portions of eastern North Carolina and nearly all South Carolina.

The State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision on I-95 in Cumberland County near Godwin. Initial reports indicate that there is one death and one injury that may be storm related.
The State Highway Patrol responded to a two vehicle collision on I-40 near exit 334 in Johnston County early this morning that resulted in both eastbound lanes of I-40 being closed.
According to investigators, the driver of a flatbed tractor-trailer was parked on the right shoulder near exit 334 near the community of Meadow when he attempted to merge onto I-40 east. As the driver pulled into the far right lane, a small box style truck approached from the rear, striking the flatbed from behind.

The Durham county sheriff’s office and the North Carolina National Guard both have important roles in public safety within the state of North Carolina. What they share in this case, is Pfc. David Earp, B Company, 1st Battalion, 120th Infantry Regiment who plays dual roles as an infantryman and a sheriff deputy.
What:
A 10k run through the historic city of Belmont, North Carolina, to support Stop Soldier Suicide, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to veterans and active duty in need. Stay for awards and post-race festivities including a rock wall, local vendors and family fun. Kids can also register for the 1 mile dash to the finish line for their own special surprise. Walkers are welcome and the course will have a 2 hour time limit.
