Shannon Hobby is a 29-year veteran of state government. She has served in a variety of accounting and budget roles in several state agencies including the former N.C. Department of Correction as the Director of Special Funds Accounting.
As Budget Director, Hobby manages a budget of nearly $2 billion that includes state appropriations, federal and state grants, and other receipt funds. She works with program managers to ensure budgeting and financial accountability.
Hobby served at the N.C. Department of Commerce for 14 years, including 9 years as the Chief Fiscal Officer responsible for all budgeting and accounting functions.
Hobby graduated from North Carolina State University in 1993 with her bachelor’s in accounting and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
