WHAT:  Quarterly meeting of the State Reentry Council Collaborative (SRCC). The SRCC was established by the North Carolina General Assembly and Gov. Roy Cooper in 2017 and is managed by the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. The SRCC is made up of representatives from across state and local government whose agency responsibilities intersect with the incarceration or reentry process for people in North Carolina.

North Carolina is one of six states selected to participate in a six-month Medicaid and Corrections Policy Academy in a pilot initiative to enhance reentry outcomes for people with complex needs transitioning from incarceration to the community.

Pamlico Community College instructors and administrators recently honored the perseverance and drive of 14 men who earned their associate degrees in Human Services Technology (HST) while housed at Pamlico Correctional Institution.

RALEIGH -- Over the past year, NCDAC's Education Services section led 54 prisons through the HiSET & Vocational Challenge, an initiative to increase the number of educational certifications earned by offenders in prison.  It was an overwhelming success, nearly quadrupling the number of HiSET and vocational completions over previous years.

Dr. Brooke Wheeler, superintendent of Correctional Education Services, outlined all of the educational and occupational opportunities available in state prison facilities and explained the significant reduction in recidivism they help achieve, at the third meeting of North Carolina's Joint Reentry Council on April 10.
NCDAC, in partnership with TransTech, celebrated its inaugural graduating class of offenders who obtained their Commercial Drivers License (CDL) while incarcerated.
