ITEMS NOT ALLOWED AT
BLACK MOUNTAIN SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT CENTER FOR WOMEN
If these items are brought to the facility, they will be inventoried and disposed of according to program policy and procedure. Items including alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco products, lighters, and matches will be discarded.
Items not allowed
- Tobacco products of any kind
- Lighters/matches
- Alcohol
- Non-prescribed medications and illegal drugs – No medication, including over-the-counter medications or medical products will be allowed without nursing approval. This includes contact lenses and nicotine patches.
- Pornography
- Books – (recovery materials, religious, hobby, craft books, word search, and puzzle type magazines are allowed)
- Magazines or newspapers
- Cassette/CD players, DVD players, IPODS/MP3 players, cameras, CDs, DVDs, or tapes
- Cell phones, pagers and chargers
- Electrical items of any kind
- Food – including hard candy, gum, snacks and cough drops
- Games of any kind including playing cards
- Scissors – craft scissors are allowed with staff approval (must have a round tip and under 4”)
- Aerosol cans (shaving gel is allowed)
- Washing detergent, liquid softener, bleach, laundry starch or dryer sheets
- Personal linens (blankets, pillows, sheets, bath towels or washcloths) **only facility issued bedding is allowed
- Picture frames that are metal or glass
- Permanent, toxic, non-washable felt tip pens, markers, craft paint and glitter of any kind (if a marker or highlighter clearly states it is a non-toxic it is allowed)
- Beading or jewelry making craft kits
HYGIENE PRODUCTS NOT ALLOWED – You are allowed no more than ten (10) hygiene products. Any hygiene product that is brought or mailed in must be new, unopened and in the manufacturer’s packaging.
ITEMS NOT ALLOWED:
- Manicure scissors
- Metal nail file
- Nail polish including clear polish and nail polish remover
- Perfumes, colognes, body sprays, or scented lotions
- Douches
- Products with alcohol listed as first ingredient
- Baby oil or liquid oil products (hair moisturizers are allowed)
- Any item that does not have the ingredients listed
- Any product that is flammable
- Mouthwash UNLESS it is alcohol free
- Hairspray – pump or aerosol - UNLESS it is alcohol free
- Hair mousse – UNLESS it is alcohol free
- Hair dye
- Hand sanitizer products
- Products designed to modify or change your appearance (hair extensions, wigs, tattoos, artificial nails)
CLOTHING ITEMS NOT ALLOWED:
- Clothes that glorify alcohol, drugs or gang affiliation
- Clothes that expose midriff, cleavage or thighs
- Pajamas, gowns and robes that are not knee length or longer (the length of the garment must reach mid-kneecap or below)
- Skirts, dresses or similar apparel that are not knee length or longer (the length of the garment must reach mid-kneecap or below)
- All sleeveless clothing – tank tops are permitted only to wear under other clothing. They cannot be worn alone, as sleepwear or as a substitute for a bra.
- Tank tops with spaghetti straps
- See through or transparent clothing or clothing with slits, cut outs, etc. that allow skin to be seen
- Hard soled shoes or boots with a heel more than one inch; boot height must fall below the knee or lower.
- Oversized purses or bags; no purse with more than three compartments inside; laundry bags are allowed but must be mesh or see through)
- Altered or modified clothing (intentionally cut up or collar removed, etc.)
Other items may be included as program staff deem appropriate. If a referral has any question, please see your Probation/Parole Officer or Black Mountain staff.
