A writ is required for all court proceedings, in-person or online, and should be emailed to the writ office at  writs@dac.nc.gov  Please do not send writs to prison facilities..  

Writs for in-person appearances should include the date, time, and physical address for the courthouse. Include the best contact phone number and email for the requesting party.  An email notification will be sent to the requesting party acknowledging receipt of the writ.  

Writs for online or virtual court appearances should include the length of time requested for the appearance along with the best contact phone number and email for the requesting party.  An email notification will be sent to the requesting party acknowledging receipt and approval or denial based on availability.
