If a telephone caller offers early release from prison for your loved one in return for money, it's a scam. Don't fall for it, and report it.

Message from Public Safety Secretary Erik A. Hooks
Raleigh
Oct 11, 2018
The North Carolina Department of Public Safety family will never forget October 12, 2017. On that day at Pasquotank Correctional Institution, four heroes -- Veronica Darden, Geoffrey Howe, Wendy Shannon and Justin Smith – were viciously assaulted and ultimately lost their lives fulfilling their duties as public servants. We continue to mourn the loss of our fallen colleagues and pray for their families to find strength and courage to face another day without their loved ones.
In honor and memory of all the fallen who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, Prisons dedicated a memorial wall and reflection area in front of the Randall Building in Raleigh on October 5.
To further honor the memory and sacrifice of those we lost at Pasquotank Correctional Institution, I encourage everyone to join me for a moment of silence at 1:15 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018.
