Fuel retailers in North Carolina are closely monitoring developments regarding fuel supply levels given the temporary shipment disruption due to the Colonial Pipeline leak in Alabama.
“Our first priority is maintaining public safety. To that end, we are asking first responders to double check their vehicles to ensure they have adequate fuel supplies on hand to run their operations,” said Public Safety Secretary Frank L. Perry. “We’ve seen fuel disruptions like this before and want to reassure people that there’s no need for alarm at this time.”

RALEIGH – The State Highway Patrol along with the North Carolina Department of Transportation conducted a bridge dedication ceremony today in memory of fallen Trooper Bobby Gene Demuth. The ceremony was held at the Nash County Community College in Rocky Mount.
State grants from the Governor’s Crime Commission are providing nine law enforcement agencies, including the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office, with the latest forensic equipment that can extract enough computer information to prosecute child sex offenders in court.
Predators, targeting children of all ages, can make contacts through gaming and social media sites like Xbox, Wii, Kik or Snapchat. Video chat sites such as ooVoo or Omegle allow children to talk with random people throughout the world.
Governor Pat McCrory toured Washington and Tyrrell Counties today to assess the damage caused by Tropical Storm Hermine. Farmland in Washington County makes up about 91,398 acres while Tyrrell County farmland is 64,590 acres. Washington and Tyrrell Counties received at least 5-10 inches of rain during the storm.
