The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Ronnie “Lane” Huneycutt as warden at the Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville.
Huneycutt had been the warden at Avery-Mitchell Correctional Institution in Spruce Pine since August 2020.

A team of American Correctional Association auditors has recommended accreditation be awarded to the Catawba Correctional Center, a high achievement in an ongoing effort to obtain full accreditation of the North Carolina prison system.
“Accreditation is the gold standard in the corrections field,” said Warden Timothy Maynor. “I am very happy we were recognized for the difficult work we do, and for our commitment to excellence. I’m proud of our team at the prison.”

The members and districts that were recognized today exemplify the Patrol’s long-standing commitment to loyalty, integrity and professionalism.
Attendance at the ceremony was limited to the honorees and their invited guests with strict COVID-19 safety protocols in place. Opening remarks were provided by Major W. P. Moore II and an invocation was administered by SHP Chaplain B.C. Murray.

Today, the Department of Public Safety, North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Division was awarded the Agency of the Year by the National Liquor Law Enforcement Association at their Annual Conference in Montgomery, Alabama.
Over 30 local, state, federal and campus law enforcement agencies were represented at the Conference. NC ALE was one of a few agencies who were recognized for the hard work and dedication to the field of alcohol law enforcement.
