Attention All News Editors: On Friday, October 16, 2015 at 2:39 p.m. a SUV was traveling north on I-95. The operator of the SUV lost control near the 47 mm, traveled off the roadway to the left, and struck a tree within the median. The vehicle then overturned and came to rest facing south. There were seven total occupants within the vehicle. Two adults, a two year old child, and a 17 year old were killed as a result of the collision. Three other juveniles within the vehicle were hurt and transported to Cape Fear Hospital.

Jeff Gordon, Public Information Officer RE: State Fair Traffic Alert RALEIGH - Due to expected high traffic volume in and around the State Fairgrounds, the State Highway Patrol will be closing the eastbound and westbound exit ramps leading from Wade Avenue onto Blue Ridge Road beginning Friday, October 23 through Sunday, October 25. The closures will only take affect during the following dates and times: Friday, October 23rd beginning at approximately 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The U.S. Department of Justice has awarded a $1.75 million grant to the Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice to enhance transitional services for inmates as they prepare to leave prison.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the Mount Gilead Police Department and the Troy Police Department joined resources with the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Branch to conduct an undercover operation in Montgomery County.  This operation was the result of citizen complaints regarding illegal drug activity occurring throughout the county.  Heroin, opium, cocaine, marijuana, and prescription medications were among the illegal substances that undercover agents purchased during the operation.
North Carolina search and rescue teams are deployed in several areas across the Carolinas to search for people whose lives are at risk due to dangerous flooding as rainfall totals, normally associated with major hurricanes, plague portions of eastern North Carolina and nearly all South Carolina.
