Governor Pat McCrory and First Lady Ann McCrory are encouraging North Carolinians to take additional steps to ensure their pets are safe this winter. “For Ann and I, pets are part of our family, and they need extra care when temperatures drop or the state is covered in snow, sleet or ice,” said Governor McCrory.
The Governor’s Task Force on Safer Schools recognized a North Carolina State Trooper for his dedicated service. Trooper William D. Coley was presented the School Safety Excellence Award by Chip Hughes, chairman of the Governor’s Task Force on Safer Schools and Macon County Sheriff Robbie Holland, vice chair, for his continual efforts to maintain a safe learning environment for students around the state.

What: The 11th annual Reindeer Dash for Cash 10 Miler & 5k run. A patriotic, Christmas-themed run offers a custom designed finisher medal and age group awards. The Reindeer Dash for Cash is a fundraising event to benefit the Captain Christopher Cash Memorial Foundation of NC, Inc. All proceeds are awarded as college scholarships at East Carolina University, Pitt Community College, NCNG Association Educational Foundation, and N.C. Wesleyan College.

Generous local corporate sponsors are stepping up to support the new public safety cadet program which is set to begin classes in Bertie County Schools in January.
