The State Highway Patrol honored the actions of several sworn and civilian members today during an awards ceremony held at the National Guard Joint Force Headquarters in Raleigh.   The venue began with an invocation provided by SHP Chaplain Phillip Bland.  Following the invocation, Colonel Glenn M. McNeill, Jr., addressed the award recipients, praising their heroic efforts while ensuring public safety.

The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Kenneth Diggs as the new warden of the Albemarle Correctional Institution in Badin. He had been the associate warden for custody/operations at the prison since 2016.
The State of North Carolina and FEMA have approved more than $3.1 million to reimburse the City of Fayetteville for debris removal costs following Hurricane Florence. More than 176,000 cubic yards of vegetation—enough to fill more than 12,500 dump trucks—and 36 tons of other storm-related debris were collected throughout the city. Funds for this project cover work completed from Sept. 13, 2018 through Feb. 15, 2019.
Governor Roy Cooper today announced that NC Army National Guard Brig. Gen. Todd Hunt will take command of the North Carolina National Guard's nearly 12,000 soldiers and airmen and over 1,700 full-time federal and state employees as the state's 41st Adjutant General. “General Hunt has been a trusted member of the leadership team and critical to the Guard’s success, particularly during natural disasters,” said Governor Cooper. “I am confident that his reputation for preparation and swift response will mean the N.C. National Guard is always ready when called.” 
The State of North Carolina and FEMA are announcing more than $4.1 million to the Craven County Board of Education for Hurricane Florence-related costs.  The funds, approved through FEMA’s Public Assistance program, reimburse cleaning mold from Craven County elementary, middle and high schools that flooded during Hurricane Florence. The mold removal eliminated health and safety threats so students, faculty and staff could return to school.
An offender was stabbed to death by another offender during an altercation at Alexander Correctional Institution on Wednesday night. Offender Christopher Parker, 33, (0789551) was stabbed with a homemade weapon around 10 p.m. in a housing unit at the prison. He was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:51 p.m.
WHAT: Hiring event
The Highway Patrol continues to investigate a crash involving a state trooper who was hit by a vehicle on US 1 in Vance County. On Tuesday, October 22 at approximately 7:59 p.m., a 2012 Buick traveled off the roadway and struck the trooper from behind as he was conducting a traffic stop.         As a result of the crash, Trooper Craig I. Hundley, a 12-year veteran, assigned to Troop C, District 4 (Franklin County) was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
