Language Access and Accessibility

This section works to ensure that the people in NCDAC custody with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and those who speak Languages Other than English (LOTE), as well as their families and the public, can access North Carolina Department of Adult Correction programs, services, and activities. ​

​This section supervises the implementation of the Language Access Plan and NCDAC's Language Access Program Policy. This section works with internal and external stakeholders to create language access resources and tools that support and strengthen safety, communication, delivery of service, and compliance with state and federal guidelines. ​

​This section collaborates with other divisions acrsoss NCDAC to develop and implement strategies for maintaining and maximizing language access through resource allocation, budget planning, compliance assessment, and internal and external communication.​

​This section leads the internal volunteer Language Access Team which meets monthly and provides the agency with guidance and best practices on Language Access. ​
