The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is beginning work to wind down operations at Craggy Correctional Center in Asheville, in preparation for closing in late summer 2026.
Officials with the NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) have promoted Lorie Goins to the position of Judicial District Manager (JDM) in Judicial District 23, effective May 11.In her new position, Goins will oversee Community Supervision operations in Wilkes, Yadkin, Ashe, and Alleghany counties with a staff of 41 people who supervise more than 1,000 individuals sentenced to probation, parole or post-release supervision.

Officials with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction have promoted Tim Gasperson to the position of Director of Operations in the Division of Community Supervision, effective May 4, 2026.In this new position, Gasperson will direct the operations of more than 2,000 probation/parole officers across the state who supervise more than 84,000 individuals sentenced to probation, parole or post release supervision.
