Following an ALE investigation, two businesses, two employees and five underage teens have been charged after an alcohol-related collision left the driver seriously injured.
On the evening of Saturday, Nov. 27, troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle crash involving an underage driver with serious injuries in Currituck County.
Tabor Correctional Institution offender Malek Moore (#1201849) has died after an apparent suicide.
He was found unresponsive in his cell around 4:34 a.m. today. The prison’s first responders performed lifesaving measures until local paramedics arrived who also worked to resuscitate the offender and pronounced Moore deceased at 4:56 a.m.
After years in operation, an adult live entertainment business in Selma has agreed to permanently close its doors. The owners of Gentlemen’s Playhouse, located at 200 Graham Street in Selma, have entered into a contractual agreement with the town of Selma which places restrictive covenants on current and future use of the property.
The N.C. Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Isaac Rogers the new director of the North Piedmont Confinement in Response to Violation (CRV) Center in Lexington.
Rogers had been the associate warden for programs at Dan River Prison Work Farm in Blanch since 2018.
The application period for the Housing Opportunities and Prevention of Evictions (HOPE) Program will close at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, with available federal funding committed to applications currently in-process and those expected in the week ahead.
The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Pamela Locklear the new director of the Robeson Confinement in Response to Violation (CRV) Center in Lumberton.
Locklear had been the associate warden for programs at Scotland Correctional Institution in Laurinburg since 2017.
Winter Weather Preparedness Week is Dec. 5 - 11 and Governor Roy Cooper is encouraging North Carolinians to plan and prepare now, before potentially dangerous winter weather arrives.

These steps will help you survive inclement weather and recover faster from it.”
The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Ronnie “Lane” Huneycutt as warden at the Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville.
Huneycutt had been the warden at Avery-Mitchell Correctional Institution in Spruce Pine since August 2020.
