Following a shooting over the weekend, a Winston-Salem club owner voluntarily cancelled its ABC permits. ALE responded to Club Sequel, located at 71 Waughtown Street, after a shooting left a female bystander injured.
The State Highway Patrol is preparing for the holiday season and for the increased number of roadway users expected across our state.  During the coming weeks, the Patrol will proactively target dangerous driver behaviors to include speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving.     
A team of American Correctional Association auditors has recommended accreditation be awarded to the Catawba Correctional Center, a high achievement in an ongoing effort to obtain full accreditation of the North Carolina prison system. “Accreditation is the gold standard in the corrections field,” said Warden Timothy Maynor. “I am very happy we were recognized for the difficult work we do, and for our commitment to excellence. I’m proud of our team at the prison.”
North Carolina’s new Regional Resilience Portfolio Program has launched a partnership that will advance resilience in eastern regions of the state impacted by Hurricane Florence. The program will be coordinated regionally with the support of councils of governments and the N.C. Rural Center. The initiative aims to build the foundation for a more resilient North Carolina by proactively engaging with community leaders to determine and plan for climate hazards.
The State Highway Patrol recognized the extraordinary acts of heroism and public service by several members during an awards ceremony held at the SBI Auditorium in Raleigh today. The members and districts that were recognized today exemplify the Patrol’s long-standing commitment to loyalty, integrity and professionalism.   Attendance at the ceremony was limited to the honorees and their invited guests with strict COVID-19 safety protocols in place. Opening remarks were provided by Major W. P. Moore II and an invocation was administered by SHP Chaplain B.C. Murray.

Since opening last fall, the N.C. Housing Opportunities and Prevention of Evictions (HOPE) Program has awarded $593.7 million in rent and utility assistance, with more than $518 million already paid on behalf of families financially impacted by COVID-19.
Today, the Department of Public Safety, North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Division was awarded the Agency of the Year by the National Liquor Law Enforcement Association at their Annual Conference in Montgomery, Alabama. Over 30 local, state, federal and campus law enforcement agencies were represented at the Conference. NC ALE was one of a few agencies who were recognized for the hard work and dedication to the field of alcohol law enforcement.
After several incidents involving gun fire, drug violations and numerous calls to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, the Red Hill Community of Maxton will soon see long-awaited changes. On November 9, 2021, Superior Court Judge Jason Disbrow signed a consent judgment in a public nuisance action brought against the owners and occupants of the property located at 92 Jack’s Drive in Robeson County.
The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Timothy Maynor as the new warden of the Catawba Correctional Center in Newton. Maynor had been the associate warden at the prison since March of 2020.
